Brian T. Ellis. An award winning writer, producer, director with some 40 years of print and broadcast journalism experience. At CBS News, Ellis wrote and produced documentaries for CBS Reports and Walter Cronkite. He also wrote and produced segments for Cronkite’s weekly science and wildlife series “Walter Cronkite’s Universe.” At CBS News, Ellis also wrote and produced 60 Minutes segments for Mike Wallace and was executive producer of a prime time one-hour retrospective of Wallace’s career. As a CBS News writer\producer, Ellis covered and reported on major news events from such places as war-time Vietnam, Cambodia, Europe, India, Japan, Africa, South Africa, Indonesia, the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, South America and China.

Ellis was among the journalists who covered Richard Nixon’s historic trips to China. He also covered and produced news reports on the foreign trips of four US Presidents and was a producer for CBS News in the South during the Civil Rights movement.

In addition to his having been a bureau chief for CBS News in Atlanta, Vietnam and Hong Kong, Ellis was also Foreign Editor for CBS News.

Ellis was a writer\producer for ABC News Special Reports and for 20\20. He wrote, produced and direct ed documentaries for TBS and has written and produced documentaries broadcast by PBS and produced and directed live programming aired by local PBS stations.

Ellis began his broadcast journalism career as a writer\producer at WTVJ Miami. He later became News Manager at WTVJ.

Prior to joining WTVJ, Ellis was editor and publisher of two newspapers in the Bahamas Islands and prior to that, he was a reporter for Perry Publications in Florida.

Ellis is now semi retired and living in Connecticut. He continues to work on the occasional television and not-for-profit film; provides research help to fellow journalists writing books, and works with foundations that have ongoing projects in Africa and Cambodia.
